WordPress General Settings
In this chapter, we will learn about the General Settings in WordPress. WordPress General Settings is used to set the basic configuration of your site. It is the default settings screen in the Settings admin screen.
Following are the steps to access the General Settings –
Step 1 − Click on the Settings → General option in WordPress.
Step 2 – The General Settings page is displayed as shown in the snapshot below.
Below are the details of the fields on the General Settings page.
- Site Title – Displays the site name in the template title.

Tagline – Displays a short sentence about your site.

WordPress Address (URL) – This is the URL to the WordPress directory, which contains all of your core application files.

Site Address (URL) – Enter the URL of your site as you wish it to be displayed in your browser.

Email Address – Enter your email address to help you recover your password or make any updates.

Members – After you check this box, anyone can register an account on your site.

Default Role for New Users – Set the default role for newly registered users or members.

Time Zone – Set the time zone based on a specific city.

Date Format – Set the date format you would like to display on your website.

Week Starts On – Select the day of the week you would like the WordPress calendar to start. The default setting is Monday.

Site Language – Set the language of the WordPress dashboard.
Step 3 – After filling in all the information about the general settings, click the Save Changes button. This will save all your general settings information.
