WordPress is an open-source content management system (CMS) that allows users to build dynamic websites and blogs. WordPress is the most popular blogging system and allows websites to be updated, customized, and managed through its back-end CMS and components.

A content management system (CMS) is software that stores all data, such as text, photos, music, documents, etc., and makes it available on your website. It facilitates editing, publishing, and modifying a website’s content.

WordPress was originally released by Matt Mullenweg and Mike Little on May 27, 2003. WordPress was announced as open source in October 2009.
